short and sweet.
people who act all high and mighty and better than everyone else because they think they have their lives in order and their heads on straight will never, ever be friends of mine. life is too short to try and learn to love people who only love themselves.
life is not about being perfect, in ANY aspect or regard. life is about learning through the ups and downs, the valleys and the mountain tops, the trials and the victories. life is a journey, not a destination, and it will never be a smooth ride.
people get so caught up in judging other people because they feel uncomfortable or offended or put off when maybe what needs to be happening is more compassion being shown. i'm not saying that excuses need to be made and leniency allowed, but a general sense of love regardless and compassion despite the disease would be nice. most of us are harder on ourselves than anyone else could ever be on us and the last thing we need is someone else telling us we are wrong, bad, offensive, immature, awful, hateful, etc. what if we stopped labelng people as good or bad and started loving them, instead? maybe those behaviors that push people away to begin with would start to disapate with a little compassion and understanding. and for those of us who have been around the block a time or two, we of all people should know how to show a little compassion to each other, right? you sure would think so. maybe it is time to gve that a try and see how it goes.
time to step down off your high horses and get real with each other. love each other. show some compassion. you've been there too at some point in time. someone once showed compassion for you, so how about trying to give back some of what has been given to you? maybe the world will go around a little smoother for once? who knows...
As much as I'm paranoid that I am guilty of these things, i could NOT AGREE with you more. Exceptionally well put, as always!!
ReplyDeleteKeep on going, LB...you have so much more strength that you could possibly be aware of<3
Rachel (N)
I could have written what Rachel above posted and just wanted to agree with her comment. I hope that not only will some compassion come from these individuals but more than anything that you two are developing more compassion for yourself with where you are in the current moment in your life. We are our own worst critic and we do not need to surround ourselves with others that only make us feel even more of a failure or inferior. Keep trecking along LB and you will accomplish all that you hope to. I have complete and utter confidence that you can do this :)
ReplyDeletethanks, jessica and rachel. and i know i'm definitely guilty of being critical and judgemental from time to time as well, so i'm not leaving myself out by any means. i just think we could all stand to be a little more compassionate and understanding, and maybe that would make some difference in our own lives and the lives of others...never know until we give it a shot!
